Performance based navigation suite

Our navigation solutions allow superyachts to perform online diagnostics and receive technical support to ensure:

• Optimisation of fuel use through “informed” route planning
• Proactive chart updates to ensure the safest navigation
• Ship telematics for remote diagnostic and upgrades

Integrated Solutions

Our integrated navigation solutions from leading manufacturers include additional SELEX Elsag innovation. For example, we integrate the machine alarm system with the onboard telephone exchange: this ensures that SMS messages are sent to alert crew members when an alarm condition or event occurs.

Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS)

The integrated bridge systems (IBS) we supply include customisable menus that can be shared across different functions for ease of use; we work with you to design the menus shown at each workstation.

The IBS can be configured to support a secure diagnostic and monitoring channel over a satellite system.

As an alternative, the IBS can operate remotely from external communication systems. In this configuration, USB storage devices can be used to capture system configurations to support sending diagnostic information as email attachments.

Secure Communications

We provide a range of encryption systems to ensure the very highest level of secure communication. SELEX Elsag has over 60 years’ experience in supplying secure solutions to government agencies and financial institutions, where systems and networks are under constant attack and the nature of prevalent threats changes rapidly.

Integrated Antenna Solutions (IAS)

For over a decade our IAS division has designed, manufactured and installed a range of antennas that are completely hidden from view. With a background in naval and military applications, this technology has been introduced to the superyacht market to radically improve aesthetics and reduce the constraints on yacht designers.

Uni-directional antennas (whips, aerials, etc) can be built into the superstructure of a yacht to completely hide them from view. As well as the aesthetic benefits, this ensures that communications can be maintained in the event of a piracy attack. Omni-directional antennas (VSAT, Sat-TV, FBB etc) can be concealed in bespoke housing rather than traditionally shaped radomes to improve aesthetics.

Antenna systems are modelled and tested prior to installation to demonstrate operational effectiveness – bespoke solutions are available for both existing and new build projects.

Airtime Packages

SELEX Elsag are not simply leading system designers and integrators of marine systems, we offer complete communications solutions with our very own competitive airtime packages for both VSAT and Inmarsat Fleet Broadband systems through our parent company Finmeccanica.

Our sister company Telespazio uses its Satellite Ground Stations around the world to provide a comprehensive portfolio of satellite airtime services.

We offer a broad range of cutting edge entertainment technology including luxurious multi-room solutions, audio/video on demand, interactive video walls and full HD cinemas. Yacht Technologies creates individual environments by the use of interactive rooms including video walls, multi touch screens and interactive tables to create a unique atmosphere.

System Control

Control systems act as an interface between the user and the environment they wish to influence, which is why the most intuitive of electronic devices is often preferred.

Yacht Technologies is able to provide a variety of control systems, from proprietary interfaces to Apple and Android devices which offer complete control of the user’s environment: ambience, room temperature, lighting, blinds and curtains change according to user preferences and can be controlled with a single touch.

IPTV Solution

We offer an all-in-one IPTV solution which allows viewers to watch what they want, when they want. Our system provides advanced state-of-the-art TV services including multi-stream HDTV, live TV, live radio, electronic program guide, program recording, on-demand video services and full user interaction.

A truly end-to-end solution, our integrated systems include TV gateway technology, middleware, time-shifting technology, applications, subscriber management systems, monitoring systems, control systems, as well as multi user terminals and control devices. This is backed by our 24/7 helpdesk and worldwide network of service partners to ensure through-life support.

Biometric Door Access

A biometric access control system uses multi-spectral fingerprint recognition technology for secure and reliable access control in the most demanding of environments, using a combination of external and internal fingerprinting.

The external fingerprint readers integrate a number of technologies including full audio support, built-in proximity reader and support optional facial recognition via their camera input connector. Internal readers offer fingerprint recognition and a built-in proximity reader.

Cyber Security

There can be enormous personal, reputational and financial damage when sensitive information is stolen. With cyber security attacks increasing in sophistication, complex technical knowledge is required to provide suitable protection.

We provide support at the design stage, advising on intrusion prevention, detection and retaliatory capabilities. This enables our clients to understand security risks from the outset, and ensures that appropriate counter measures, contingencies and management processes are built into the vessel’s IT infrastructure.

Diver detection

At SELEX Elsag we are pioneering the most advanced diver detection systems (DDS) to provide added security for superyachts in harbour or at anchor. With a detection range of up to 900 metres, the DDS uses sonar to identify potential threats and then sends an alert using your chosen method – anything from an onboard alert to a smartphone notification. The DDS is available as a fully integrated through-hull design or a portable over-the-side system that can be set up just 30 minutes, providing maximum flexibility.
